Locally owned and operated since 1994
First, we would like to say how grateful we are to have emerged safely and Without any loss of life from the havoc and devastation recently caused to our beloved gulf coast by hurricane Sally. Like many other local businesses, we spent this week making sure our employees and their families were safe and received time to assess and recover from their personal impact and we are able to announce that we will be back to normal operations on Monday, September 21st.
Now that the waters have started to recede and we begin the enormous task of cleaning up, rest assured that Tombstone Termite and Pest Control Inc. is here to help you wade through the steps necessary to continue to protect your property.
Natural disasters, such as floods, disrupt the environment around your home and extended water exposure to wood frames can create ideal conditions which allow termite colonies to flourish. Extended water exposure can also allow fungus to permeate the wood and eventually begin breaking down the material and termite infestations can occur because of this decay process.
Some measures you can take to reduce your chances of an infestation include drying out waterlogged soil and wood in crawl spaces as soon as possible, repair cracks in foundation walls (these cracks provide termites with entry points to the house), repair damage to roofs and structural wood to prevent termites from establishing above-ground or aerial infestations (these infestations are rarely, if ever, covered by a termite protection contract). Remove tree stumps and wood debris from the yard as they can eventually become a food source for termites.
If you have a termite protection contract with us and have been directly impacted by flood waters or structural damage from hurricane Sally, please contact the office at (850) 932-0977 so that we may determine if a retreatment is necessary. If retreatment is needed, we recommend you consult with your insurance company to see if it is covered under your homeowner’s policy as part of storm damage. Home repairs that require removing soil around the foundation will also remove the protective termiticide treatment and could void your termite contract, so if repairs to your home are likely to disturb the soil in or around the foundation, please contact us before work begins.
Tombstone Termite and Pest Control Inc. is committed to the safety and protection of our valued customers and employees.
